Subscriptions
Manage your FRITH plan — upgrade tiers, AI Power Packs, document credit usage, billing history, and payment methods.
Overview
The Subscriptions module is the firm's billing account with FRITH. It shows the current plan, real-time AI usage against quota, document tool credits, upcoming invoice, payment methods, and the full billing history with downloadable PDF invoices. Upgrades and downgrades are handled through Stripe Checkout; card management and past invoice access use the Stripe Customer Portal.
FRITH has two parallel billing axes: the base subscription tier (which determines the firm's overall feature access) and AI Power Packs (which expand AI usage limits independently of the base tier). Document tools have their own monthly credit allocation, with additional credit packs available for purchase. Understanding these three layers — base tier, AI pack, document credits — is the key to reading the Subscriptions page accurately.
AI Power Packs
AI Power Packs expand the firm's AI usage limits (requests, tokens, and cost per period). Three tiers are available, billed monthly or annually (annual billing saves 25%):
Pro
For individual practitioners and small teams. A generous monthly AI allocation for daily legal research, document drafting, and client communication drafts.
Plus
Most PopularFor active practices and growing teams. Substantially higher AI request and token limits. Recommended for firms where AI is part of the daily workflow for multiple attorneys.
Enterprise
Custom limits and SLA for large firms and corporate legal teams. Includes dedicated support, volume discounts, and custom model configurations. Contact sales to discuss.
AI Usage Tracking
The AI Usage section shows real-time consumption for the current billing period:
Document Suite Credits
Document tools (PDF processing, OCR, Cloud Convert, Office-to-PDF, redaction, eSignature) operate on a credit system separate from AI usage. Each billing period, the plan includes a monthly allocation; overages can be covered by purchasing document credit packs.
Managing Your Subscription
View your current plan
Open Settings → Subscriptions. The top section shows your current tier, status, and whether billing is monthly or annual. The AI usage bar below shows how much of the current period's allocation has been used.
Upgrade or change plan
Click "Upgrade Plan" or "Change Plan" to open Stripe Checkout. Select the new tier and billing interval. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated for the remainder of the billing period. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal date.
Add or change payment method
Click "Manage Billing" to open the Stripe Customer Portal. From there, add a new payment method, set a default card, or remove an old card. The portal also allows updating the billing contact email and address.
Purchase document credit top-up
When document credits are running low, scroll to the Document Credits section and click "Buy Credits." Select the credit pack size and confirm purchase. Credits are added to the account immediately.
Download billing history
Scroll to the Billing History section. Each past invoice is listed with the amount, currency, status, and date. Click the PDF icon next to any invoice to download the tax invoice PDF for accounting records.
Upcoming Invoice
The Upcoming Invoice section shows a preview of the next invoice before it is issued: the amount, currency, and billing date. This reflects the current subscription plus any document credit packs purchased during the period. It does not include pay-as-you-go AI overage (which is covered by the Power Pack tier cap rather than by additional charges).
Subscription management principles
- • Annual billing saves 25% vs monthly on the same AI Power Pack tier. If the firm has been on FRITH for three months and is confident it will continue, switching to annual immediately saves a quarter of the subscription cost with no downside.
- • Watch the AI usage bar weekly. A quota that runs out mid-month forces attorneys to stop using AI tools and wait for the reset. Check usage at the halfway point of each billing period — if you are already above 60%, consider upgrading the Power Pack tier before the end of the period.
- • Document credits reset monthly — unused credits do not roll over. If the firm consistently has 40% of document credits remaining at month-end, the current tier may be overly generous. Downgrade the document suite tier at next renewal to reduce costs, or use the excess credits on backlog document processing tasks before they reset.
- • Download invoices promptly for accounts. FRITH tax invoices (PDF) are available in Billing History for all past periods. The firm's accountant will need these for BAS/VAT returns and end-of-year accounts. Set a monthly calendar reminder to download the invoice and forward it to accounts within 3 days of issue.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when I hit the AI usage limit?
When the AI request or token quota is exhausted for the current billing period, AI features return a "Quota exceeded" message instead of a response. The quota resets at the start of the next billing period, or you can upgrade the AI Power Pack tier to a higher limit immediately. There is no automatic overage charge — FRITH does not silently charge above the plan limit.
Can I get a refund if I downgrade?
FRITH's refund policy is governed by the Terms of Service. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal date — the current period is not refunded. Upgrades are prorated for the remainder of the current period. Contact support@getfrith.com for billing queries not covered by self-service options in the Stripe portal.
Is the AI Power Pack per-user or per-organisation?
AI Power Pack quotas are per-user. Each user on the plan has their own AI usage allocation. The Subscriptions page shows the usage for the currently logged-in user. Organisation-level aggregate usage is visible in the Analytics module.
How do I cancel the subscription?
Click "Manage Billing" to open the Stripe Customer Portal. From the portal, select "Cancel Plan." Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — access continues until that date. Data is retained for 30 days post-cancellation before permanent deletion, during which it can be exported.
