Settings

Personal account configuration — profile, security, appearance, preferences, AI provider, integrations, and feedback.

Overview

The Settings module controls each user's personal account configuration within FRITH. These settings are per-user — they are not shared across the organisation, and changes here do not affect other team members. Organisation-level configuration (member management, billing, data retention) lives in the Organisation module. The Settings module is where individuals personalise their FRITH experience: how the interface looks, how notifications work, what currency to display, which AI provider to use, and how to connect personal accounts.

Settings Tabs

Profile

Edit your display name and firm/organisation name. These appear on invoices, emails, and client-facing documents. Email address is shown here but is managed through the authentication provider.

Security

Change your password (minimum 8 characters, must include uppercase, lowercase, number, and special character). Access the Security Settings panel for two-factor authentication and active session management.

Appearance

Set the interface color mode (Light, System default, or Dark) and the chat/body font. Font options include Default, Sans, System, and Dyslexic-friendly (Atkinson Hyperlegible — a typeface designed for readers with dyslexia).

Preferences

Configure timezone (grouped by Americas, Europe, UTC, and more), display currency (200+ currencies, with popular currencies listed first), and notification settings (email notifications, marketing communications, security alerts). Each preference is independent.

AI Provider

Configure your AI provider settings including BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, and other supported providers. When a BYOK key is active, AI queries use your key and billing instead of the FRITH credit allocation.

Integrations

Connect personal third-party accounts: Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Microsoft Calendar. Personal integrations affect only your account — they are distinct from firm-level integrations configured in the App Integration module.

Feedback

Submit feedback to the FRITH team. Select the feedback type (General, Feature Request, Bug Report), category, subject, and message. Rate your experience 1–5 stars. View your feedback history and track the status of submitted requests.

Appearance Options

The Appearance tab offers two categories of configuration:

LightA light background with dark text. Best for well-lit environments and colour-accurate work (document review, colour-coded matter stages).
SystemFRITH follows the operating system's dark/light mode setting. The interface switches automatically when the system switches — no manual toggle required. This is the recommended option for most users.
DarkA dark background with light text. Preferred by many for extended use and in low-light environments.
Default fontFRITH's built-in interface typeface, optimised for screen readability at all sizes.
Dyslexic-friendly fontAtkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface developed by the Braille Institute specifically to improve readability for readers with dyslexia. Each character is designed to be uniquely distinguishable to reduce common reading errors.

Preferences

TimezoneSets the timezone for all dates and times displayed in FRITH (deadline due times, calendar events, activity logs). Select from grouped regions: Americas, Europe, Asia/Pacific, Africa, and UTC. Attorneys working across timezones should set this to their primary working timezone, not UTC.
Display currencyThe default currency for displaying financial data (billing dashboards, matter budgets, analytics). Does not change invoice currencies — those are set per-invoice. The selector lists Popular Currencies first (AUD, USD, GBP, EUR, NZD, CAD, SGD, HKD) followed by all ISO 4217 currencies alphabetically.
Email notificationsToggle email alerts for activity on your matters: new client messages, deadline reminders, invoice paid notifications, and team @mentions. Does not affect security alerts, which have a separate toggle.
Marketing communicationsOpt in or out of FRITH product updates, new feature announcements, and legal technology newsletter. Independent of operational notifications.
Security alertsNotifications for account security events: new device login, password change, API key creation or revocation. Recommended to keep enabled at all times.

AI Provider Configuration

The AI Provider tab is where BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) is configured. When enabled, FRITH routes your AI queries directly to the provider using your own API key. This:

Uses your billingAI usage is billed directly to your API account with the provider, not to FRITH credits. Suitable for high-volume users.
Model selectionWith a BYOK key, you can select specific model versions — including the latest models as they are released — rather than being limited to FRITH's default model selection.
Key securityBYOK keys are stored encrypted at rest. Never share your key in the feedback form, support chat, or any other field in FRITH — only the API Provider tab stores keys securely.
Supported providersOpenAI (GPT-4, GPT-4o), Anthropic (Claude), Google Gemini, Groq, and others as listed in the AI Provider settings panel.

Settings to configure on first login

  • • Timezone: FRITH defaults to UTC. Set your local timezone before creating any deadlines or calendar entries — a deadline set in UTC may appear a day off in your local time. This is the single most important preference to set first.
  • • Display currency: Set to the currency you invoice in most often. This affects how billing dashboards and analytics display financial data. It does not lock invoice currency — you can still invoice in other currencies.
  • • Security: Enable two-factor authentication under Settings → Security → Security Settings Panel if your organisation's security policy requires it. This is particularly important for Owner and Admin accounts.
  • • Profile name: The display name in Profile is what appears on invoices and emails. Set it to the exact name the firm uses in client-facing correspondence — not a nickname or informal variant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change my email address?

Email addresses are managed through the authentication provider (Firebase Auth). Contact FRITH support to change the email address associated with your account. A confirmation step is required at both the old and new email addresses.

If I change my display name, does it update on existing documents?

No. The display name change affects new documents and notifications going forward. Existing documents (invoices, filed court documents, signed agreements) retain the name that was set when they were created — which is the correct behaviour for legal record integrity.

Can I have different notification settings from the rest of my team?

Yes. Notification preferences are per-user. Each team member configures their own notification preferences independently. An attorney who prefers SMS-only notifications sets that up for themselves without affecting anyone else.

What happens to my BYOK key if I leave the organisation?

When a member is removed from an organisation, their BYOK key is disassociated from the account. The key remains valid with the AI provider — it is not revoked by FRITH. If you were using a firm-owned API key, revoke it from the provider's dashboard after the staff member leaves to prevent continued usage.
