Time Tracking

Log billable time with live timers, manual entries, and automatic sync.

Starting a timer

  1. 1Open a matter from the Matters tab.
  2. 2Tap the Timer button (clock icon, top-right of the matter overview).
  3. 3Select a billing code from the dropdown (e.g. L110 — Fact Investigation).
  4. 4Optionally add a description. Tap Start Timer.
  5. 5The timer runs in the background — it continues even when you switch apps or lock your screen.
  6. 6To stop: tap the Time tab → tap the running timer → tap Stop. Add a final description and tap Save.

Multiple concurrent timers

You can run timers on multiple matters simultaneously — one timer per matter. This is useful if you are actively working on a call for Matter A while also waiting on hold for Matter B. Each matter's timer is independent. The Time tab shows all running timers in a list, each with its elapsed time and matter name.

Only one timer is counted for billing at a time — if two timers run simultaneously, it is your responsibility to adjust the entries to reflect actual billable time before converting to an invoice.

Manual time entry

  1. 1Tap + in the Time tab (or + in the Activities tab of a matter).
  2. 2Select Time Entry as the activity type.
  3. 3Choose the matter from the matter picker.
  4. 4Enter the duration (hours and minutes) or use the decimal format (e.g. 1.5 for 1h 30m).
  5. 5Select the billing code.
  6. 6Add a description of the work performed.
  7. 7Set the date (defaults to today).
  8. 8Tap Save. The entry appears in the matter's Activities tab and in your unbilled time list.

Reviewing and editing entries

  • Time tab → Unbilled shows all time entries not yet added to an invoice.
  • Tap any entry to open it. Edit the duration, description, billing code, or date, then tap Save.
  • Swipe left on an entry → Delete to remove it.
  • Entries synced to the web app can also be edited there — changes reflect on mobile after the next sync.

Timer behaviour on device restart: the timer continues counting server-side but the live elapsed time display on your screen resets on restart. Your time is not lost — check the entry in the Time tab after restarting.
