Legal Practice · Module 1

Dashboard

Your entire practice, summarised on a single screen.

Overview

The FRITH Dashboard is the first screen you see when you log in. It is designed to give attorneys and firm staff an immediate, accurate snapshot of everything that needs attention — without digging through individual modules. Think of it as your morning briefing: open matters, today's schedule, overdue tasks, billing totals, and team activity are all visible the moment you arrive.

The Dashboard is fully role-aware. An attorney sees their own matters, time entries, and upcoming deadlines. A firm administrator sees firm-wide metrics, staff utilisation, and financial summaries. A paralegal sees the task queue and document jobs assigned to them. Every panel is rendered based on your role and permissions, so the Dashboard is always relevant — never cluttered with information that doesn't apply to you.

What's on the Dashboard

Practice Summary

Total open matters, active clients, hours billed this month, and outstanding invoices — all updated in real time.

Recent Matters

A list of the matters you have interacted with most recently, with stage indicator, client name, and last-activity timestamp.

Upcoming Deadlines

Court deadlines, statute of limitations dates, and filing cutoffs sorted by proximity. Colour-coded: green (>14 days), amber (7–14 days), red (<7 days).

My Tasks

Open tasks assigned to you, sorted by due date. Click any task to navigate directly to its detail view and mark it complete.

Notifications & Alerts

System alerts, billing reminders, document-ready notifications, and messages from colleagues appear here in chronological order.

Time & Billing Snapshot

Hours logged today vs. your daily target, WIP (work in progress) balance, and the total receivable from outstanding invoices.

Quick Actions

The Dashboard includes a Quick Actions toolbar so you can start common tasks without navigating away:

  • +New Matter — opens the matter creation wizard in a modal.
  • +Log Time — opens a quick-entry time log for any open matter.
  • +New Task — creates a task and optionally links it to a matter.
  • +Add Contact — creates a new client or contact record.
  • +Upload Document — uploads a file to any matter or your document library.

Navigating the Dashboard

1

Left Sidebar

The persistent left navigation lists all modules grouped by category (Legal Practice, AI Tools, Finance, etc.). Click any item to go directly to that module. The sidebar can be collapsed to icon-only mode by clicking the arrow at the top to give the main content more room.

2

Top Header

The header contains the global search bar (Cmd/Ctrl+K), notifications bell, your organisation switcher if you belong to multiple firms, and your account menu. Search works across matters, contacts, documents, and tasks simultaneously.

3

Dashboard Widgets

Each widget on the Dashboard is clickable. Clicking a matter in the "Recent Matters" list opens that matter. Clicking a deadline opens the Deadlines module filtered to that item. Every number is a link to the underlying data.

4

Date Range Filter

The billing snapshot and summary statistics respect a date-range selector in the top right of the dashboard. Change the period from "This month" to "This week", "This quarter", or a custom range to adjust the figures displayed.

Customising Your Dashboard

Attorneys with different practice areas have different priorities. FRITH lets you personalise the Dashboard layout:

  • Drag widgets to reorder them on the page.
  • Use the ⚙ Customise button (top right of the dashboard) to show or hide specific panels.
  • Pin up to 5 frequently-used modules to the Quick Actions bar for one-click access.
  • Set your preferred default date range for financial summaries.
  • Choose a compact or expanded view for the Recent Matters list.

Tips for attorneys

  • • Start every morning on the Dashboard — the Deadlines widget will tell you what needs attention today.
  • • Use Cmd/Ctrl+K search to jump to any matter by name or file number instantly.
  • • The Notifications panel distinguishes between informational alerts and action-required items. Prioritise the red-flagged ones first.
  • • If a deadline appears amber or red, click it immediately — it will navigate to the Deadlines module with that item already selected so you can take action.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are my statistics different from my colleague's?

Dashboard metrics are scoped to your user account. You see matters you are responsible for, tasks assigned to you, and your own time entries. Administrators with the appropriate role can access firm-wide views via the Analytics module.

The Dashboard shows a deadline I thought I completed. Why?

Deadlines on the Dashboard reflect items in the Deadlines module that have not been marked as completed or satisfied. Open the Deadlines module, find the item, and mark it resolved to remove it from the widget.

Can I share a customised Dashboard layout with my team?

Dashboard layouts are currently per-user. Firm-wide default layouts can be set by an administrator under Organisation → Settings → Dashboard Defaults, which serves as the starting point for new users.

My time entry widget shows the wrong billing target. How do I change it?

Daily billing targets are set per user under Settings → My Profile → Billing Target. Administrators can set targets for all staff under Organisation → Staff.
