Email Integration
Connect Gmail, Outlook, or Apple Mail to auto-log client emails, send from FRITH, and use AI email summaries.
The email integration uses OAuth — FRITH never stores your email password. Each attorney connects their own account individually. Shared firm inboxes (e.g. intake@firm.com) can be connected as a shared inbox by an Admin.
Connecting your email account
- 1Go to Settings → Integrations → Email.
- 2Click Connect Gmail, Connect Outlook, or Connect via IMAP.
- 3For Gmail/Outlook: you are redirected to Google/Microsoft. Sign in and grant FRITH the requested permissions (read/send email).
- 4For Apple Mail or any IMAP provider: enter your email server, port, and app password. Gmail and Outlook require OAuth even for IMAP — use the Connect Gmail / Connect Outlook buttons.
- 5Once connected, FRITH runs an initial scan of your last 90 days of email to match existing threads to matters.
- 6A green "Connected" badge appears next to your email address in Settings → Integrations.
What the integration does
- Auto-log emails: any email to or from a client email address linked to a matter is logged under that matter's Communications tab. No manual action required.
- Send from FRITH: compose and send emails to clients from within a matter — the email comes from your connected account, not from a FRITH address.
- AI email summaries: long email threads are summarised to a single paragraph under the matter's AI Summary section. Updated after each new email.
- Email templates: create reusable templates (Settings → Templates → Email) and send them with one click from any matter. Variables like {{client_name}} and {{matter_reference}} are auto-filled.
- Attachment auto-filing: attachments in incoming client emails are surfaced in the matter's Documents tab with a one-click "File to matter" button.
- Reply threading: replies to emails sent via FRITH are threaded back to the correct matter automatically.
Shared inbox setup
Admins can connect a shared firm inbox (e.g. intake@firm.com) visible to all members. Go to Settings → Integrations → Shared Inboxes → Add Shared Inbox. The inbox appears in the Communications hub's shared channel view. Individual responses can still be sent from each attorney's personal account.
FRITH only reads emails to/from email addresses explicitly linked to clients or matters. It does not read your entire inbox. Personal emails are never matched to matters.
